Member of the renowned Ghanaian music group 4X4, Captain Planet, has reacted to claims made by former Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, regarding the controversial betting tax.

Dr. Adam, in an address to the press following the presentation of the 2025 budget in Parliament, questioned the abolishment of the 10 percent withholding tax on betting earnings, asserting that the tax was never implemented.

His comments, however, were met with backlash from many social media users.

Among those who reacted was Captain Planet, real name Sylvanus Dodji Jeoffrey, who questioned who had been collecting the taxes.

He further called for the prosecution of those responsible if the tax collection was unauthorised.

“NPP people say they never implemented the betting tax, so who was collecting the betting tax? We need to find that person and jail them,” he posted.

The budget, presented by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, on March 11, 2025, included various policy decisions, such as the abolishment of the controversial E-Levy, emissions levy, and betting tax, as promised by President John Dramani Mahama.
