Popular Ghanaian boxer and entertainer, Braimah Kamoko, widely known as Bukom Banku, has revealed that his decision to bleach his skin years ago cost him his television job.

Speaking in an interview with Empress Gifty on UTV on October 12, 2025, Bukom Banku disclosed that his controversial skin-bleaching habit did not only attracted public backlash but also had a negative impact on his media career.

“I lost my TV job because of bleaching. The bosses said it was bringing a bad image to the station,” he said.

Bukom Banku, known for his humorous takes, added that he considers bleaching a talent and doesn’t understand why anyone would want to stop him.

“They said I shouldn’t bleach my skin. It’s my life, and I chose to bleach my skin. Bleaching is my talent, and they want to stop my talent,” he shared.

According to him, he resorted to skin bleaching out of personal preference, not for attention, although he later realised it affected how people perceived him.

“I liked how it made me look at that time, but people didn’t understand. I didn’t bleach to please anyone,” he added.
