The one-week observation of Ghanaian Highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has been a major topic of discussion in recent days.

The event, held at Black Star Square on August 30, 2025, was graced by high-profile personalities from all walks of life.

Amidst the buzz, however, it was noted that some key individuals, including close associates of the late Daddy Lumba, were noticeably absent.

While the reasons for their absence remain unclear, let’s explore some prominent personalities who were ‘missing’ at the one-week observation:

    President John Dramani Mahama

Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, was noticeably absent from the one-week observation of the late musician.

Prior to the event, the family of the late icon paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, at the Presidency in Accra.

The purpose of the visit was to officially inform the government of Daddy Lumba’s passing and to share plans for his final funeral rites.

However, during the one-week observation, neither the President nor his Chief of Staff was present at the event.

Individuals Daddy Lumba sang about and their role in his life journey

    Nana Acheampong

Ghanaian Highlife musician and former member of the defunct ‘Lumba Brothers’ music group, Nana Acheampong, was notably absent from the one-week observation.

The musician, who had earlier released a soul-stirring tribute song titled “Due! K. Fosu” in honour of the late Daddy Lumba, also missed the event.

    Kennedy Agyapong (Kenpong)

Another prominent individual who was noticeably absent from the one-week observation was Kenpong, a close friend of the late Daddy Lumba.

Kenpong, a renowned Ghanaian business mogul whose name was even mentioned in Lumba’s song “Nea Wo Ho Bɛto Wo”, was not spotted at the ceremony.

However, he has since played a pivotal role in supporting Lumba’s family since the musician’s passing.

Kenpong has been seen on several occasions offering support, particularly to Daddy Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, and children, following their return from

    Germany for the event.

Key highlights from Daddy Lumba’s one-week observation

    Stonebwoy

Dancehall musician Stonebwoy, despite sharing numerous condolence messages on social media following Daddy Lumba’s passing, missed the one-week observation.

    Ofori Ampomsah

Ghanaian Highlife musician Ofori Amponsah, a former mentee of Daddy Lumba, was also not present at the one-week observation.

The two once shared a long-standing musical relationship with numerous hit collaborations.

Despite posting several condolence messages on social media, Ofori Amponsah’s physical presence at the late Lumba’s one-week event was missed.

    LilWin

Kumawood actor, Kwadwo Nkansah (LilWin), who recently stirred controversy following the death of Daddy Lumba, was absent from the one-week observation.

Recently, LilWin became a topic of social media discussion after the date of his movie premiere coincided with Lumba’s candlelight vigil in Accra.
