Ghanaian singer Tofamba is set to release a new single, AsumDwe, on November 6, drawing on personal experiences to explore themes of inner peace, self-discovery, freedom and personal growth.

The song reflects her journey towards confronting fear, overcoming personal limitations and embracing life’s challenges.

Tofamba says the inspiration came from realising that avoiding difficult situations does not make them disappear.

“I realised that I couldn’t keep running from the things holding me back. I had to face them,” she said.

Although rooted in her personal experiences, the singer hopes the song will connect with listeners navigating their own struggles and remind them that they are not alone.

She describes life as the biggest influence on the record, explaining that its message draws directly from experiences she has encountered.

“Nothing teaches you better than life itself. Everything you hear in ‘AsumDwe’ comes from experiences life has handed me,” she said.

She further summed up her creative inspiration with the remark: “Life overfed me, so I had to spit it out.”

The production process also involved making difficult creative choices, with the team eventually removing some elements to preserve the song’s original direction.

“Sometimes, knowing what to leave out is just as important as knowing what to put in,” she noted.

Beyond its themes, AsumDwe represents a stage in Tofamba’s personal and artistic development.

Asked whether the song reflects the woman she is today or the person she is becoming, she described it as “more of a glimpse of the woman I am becoming.”

Her outlook is captured in the Ghanaian expression, “Daakye Bɛyɛ Dɛ”, meaning tomorrow will be beautiful.

Through the song, Tofamba hopes to encourage courage, self-belief and the determination to keep moving forward despite life’s difficulties.

She believes that present circumstances should not define people’s potential and that fear should not prevent them from pursuing the people they aspire to become.

AsumDwe is scheduled for release on November 6.
