As netizens continue to lambast former finance minister, Mohammed Amin Adam, over his recent comments on the betting tax, Shatta Wale has joined the fray.

After the 2025 budget was presented in parliament, where the current Minister of Finance, Casiel Ato Forson, announced the government’s decision to abolish the betting tax implemented by the previous administration, the former finance minister was quick to respond, claiming his government had never implemented such a tax.

“Betting tax, which they said they have abolished, we never collected betting tax. So, to come and tell Ghanaians that you have abolished something that you have not implemented is to deceive the people of Ghana,” Dr. Amin Adam stated during a press conference.

In response to these developments, dancehall musician Shatta Wale has stepped into the spotlight.

He shared a video of the former minister denying the claims about the betting tax being abolished, captioning it, “Hey hey shut up there, shut up shut up there, Liar, Judas!”

Shatta Wale, afterwards, entered the studio and released a song titled “Betting Tax,” which condemns the former finance minister’s statements.

Sharing a link to the song on his page, he added, “Ghanaians are tired of the lies… common sense should tell these leaders that they come and go…”

He also took a moment to thank President John Dramani Mahama, expressing appreciation for what he described as the continued focus on prioritising the country.

“Thanks to our newly elected president for helping the youth of Ghana. Don’t stop thinking about the country first… love always… #oneghana #onepeople,” he wrote.

Asides from Shatta Wale, numerous Ghanaian celebrities have expressed their views on the abolishment of the betting tax and the former finance minister’s claim that it was never implemented.

Out of all the points raised during Ato Forson’s speech in parliament, it appears that the topic of the betting tax has captured Ghanaians’ attention the most.
