The moment a thief robbed shoppers at gunpoint in broad daylight in Colombia was captured on shocking security footage.
Several people were standing at the counter of a perfume shop in the city of Cali last week when a man pulled up on a motorbike, took a gun out of his waistband and calmly entered the store with it drawn.
‘We were shopping when I felt someone pointing a gun at my head,’ one victim said.
The appalling video footage showed the man – who was still in a helmet and wearing a backpack over his chest – cocking his gun as he approached at least four people in the shop.
He is captured yanking something off a man’s neck and taking his bag while holding the gun against his back – prompting one shopper to run away.
Two additional woman then had their purses snatched which he immediately stuffed inside of his open backpack – all while he kept the firearm pointed directly at them.
‘He threatened us and snatched my mom’s bag and my wallet, a gold chain and a bag with my wireless headphones,’ a victim said. ‘Then he approached the other shoppers and stole their mobile phones, wallets and another woman’s handbag.’
The shoppers – who appeared to remain relatively calm despite the circumstances – contacted police after the thief fled the scene – prompting officers to use GPS tracking from a stolen phone to locate the suspected criminal at a motel in the neighborhood of Sucre.
The man – who was described by victims as white with a beard – was arrested after officers arrived and found stolen mobile phones inside a bag left on the roof along with various documents, bank cards, wallets and bags on the stairs.
Officers were able to return the stolen items back to all of the victims.
