In July 2024, reports surfaced detailing the struggles of Shatta Wale’s mother, Elsie Avemegah, amid claims of neglect by the dancehall musician. For over a decade, the situation reportedly sparked widespread criticism.

In response, Shatta Wale, popularly known for his hit song “Ayoo,” defended himself during interviews, outlining various ways he had supported his mother. These included buying her four cars and providing other forms of assistance. Despite his explanations, critics remained skeptical about his commitment to his mother’s welfare.

The debate resurfaced in September 2024 when Shatta Wale’s manager, Sammy Flex, publicly claimed that the musician had purchased a three-bedroom house for his mother, further fueling public scrutiny.

Elsie Avemegah has now come forward to set the record straight, debunking claims that her son bought her a house. In an audio circulating on social media, she clarified that the property in question, located in Abokobi, a suburb of Accra, was rented for two years, not purchased.

Addressing Sammy Flex directly, Elsie issued a stern warning. “Sammy Flex! I am calling you to warn you that if you don’t stop this nonsense, I am just on my way to Atiave, and I will deal with you. You think I am one of those useless old women… If you don’t stop spreading false rumours about me that you and my son bought me a house while you only rented the building for me for only two years, you will regret involving yourself in this matter,” she said.

Elsie further gave Sammy Flex a three-day ultimatum to publicly apologize and clarify the situation, threatening consequences if he failed to comply.

Adding fuel to the controversy, Shatta Wale’s uncle, who claims to have assisted Elsie in moving into the rented house, released a scathing video targeting the musician and his management.

“I am doing this video to warn Shatta Wale and his manager, Sammy Flex. If you are broke and want to chase clout, don’t use your mother. Because I know the story from A to Z. If you know you can’t take care of your mother, allow her to be because people are taking care of her. When did you buy the house for her? You couldn’t even make full payment for the building. You only paid for three months, and you’re here, and you are chasing clout with it,” the uncle remarked.

He concluded with a dire warning, threatening to summon Sammy Flex to court and predicting severe consequences if the claims were not retracted.

The unfolding drama has once again reignited conversations about celebrity responsibilities and family dynamics, particularly in the Ghanaian entertainment industry. While some fans defend Shatta Wale’s contributions to his mother, others criticize the public airing of private matters, urging both parties to seek resolution away from social media.

The story continues to generate mixed reactions as fans await further developments from the parties involved.
