Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has responded affectionately on Facebook to gospel artiste Perez Musik’s recent comments suggesting Wale could draw thousands to Christ if he switched to gospel music.

Perez Musik had made the comments in an interview on Hitz FM, where he reacted to the dancehall artiste’s recent ShattaFest concert, which saw thousands troop to an already filled Independence Square.

In his reply, Shatta Wale, stated, “Oh, my blood brother Perez, it is the same gospel I am preaching ooo. Same as what you’re doing, but mine is not for one religion but for God’s people,” he said.

He went on to explain that his music was targeted at ‘God’s people’, whom he described as “Every Living and Non-Living thing and so we are God’s people/Children/Angels🫶ETC..”

    What happened at ShattaFest

Thousands of music fans filled Accra’s Independence Square on October 18, 2025, to celebrate Shatta Wale’s 41st birthday at ShattaFest.

The event, heavily promoted on social media and sponsored by MTN, saw fans arriving from various parts of the country, with vehicles and groups converging on the packed venue.

By early evening, the Square was almost full and by 10 PM, both the Square and nearby roads were overwhelmed with attendees.

The concert featured performances from several artistes, including Samini, Tinny, Kelvynboy, Jupita and Wendy Shay, with Shatta Wale delivering the headline act.

The concert ended successfully, marking one of the largest turnouts for a musical event in Ghana, with related coverage and claims suggesting upwards of 673,000 people attended ShattaFest 2025.
