Support for Ghana’s 2026 World Cup push gathered serious momentum on Friday night, with two of the country’s biggest dancehall names stepping forward to back the Black Stars financially.

Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale were among the high-profile figures at the campaign launch held at the Kempinski Hotel, where a mix of individuals and corporate organisations pledged funds toward the national team’s preparations for the global tournament.

Stonebwoy set the tone with a combined pledge of $101,000, made up of $81,000 in cash and an additional $20,000 in music services. Shortly after, Shatta Wale followed with a $100,000 commitment, reinforcing the growing wave of support as Ghana gears up for the competition.

Corporate backing also dominated the evening. Engineers & Planners, the mining company owned by Ibrahim Mahama, led the way with a $5 million commitment. Goldfields added $2 million to the pool and promised a further $1 million contribution next year.

On the pitch, Ghana face a challenging path. Drawn in Group L, the Black Stars will compete against England, Croatia, and Panama. Their campaign begins on June 17 with an opening fixture against Panama in Toronto.
