Ghanaian dancehall superstar Shatta Wale has taken aim at the local entertainment industry, accusing it of prioritising gossip and controversy over meaningful economic and creative progress.

In a series of Facebook posts on February 16, 2026, the “On God” hitmaker lambasted what he described as an industry obsessed with talking about problems and other people instead of finding ways to generate money and build sustainable careers.

“In the Ghanaian entertainment industry, they only talk about problems and not solutions. How can we be discussing sex tapes and whose bottos is big?… They sit and discuss past stories that won’t generate any income,” he wrote.

The dancehall artiste said many in the industry waste years on gossip, engaging audiences with celebrity feuds and controversies instead of transforming those platforms into income streams.

“I grew up watching some of these people, thinking they were living the stardom life until I realized myself, how they have wasted many years just doing konkonsa with zero benefits,” he added.

Shatta Wale also reflected on his early days of Facebook live streaming, noting that critics once labelled him a “social media artiste.”

He has pointed out that many others have adopted similar live streaming setups to monetise their craft and reach fans directly.

“The world is changing and if care is not taken you will have yourself to blame. Stop wasting your time discussing people’s matters as entertainment topics and find ways to generate Revenue,” he warned.

He urged his peers to stop “wasting time discussing people’s matters as entertainment topics” and to focus instead on revenue-generating opportunities.
