Reports have emerged that Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, did not receive any payment from the government for his performance at the 2025 President’s Cup held at the Accra Sports Stadium on July 6, 2025.

According to Joy Sports, the musician personally covered the full cost of his performance and production as a gesture to honour President John Dramani Mahama.

It has been reported that the Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, released a statement to clear up public concerns.

In the statement, the minister explained that no taxpayer’s money was used to pay Shatta Wale or cover any part of his performance.

“Shatta Wale covered the cost of his entire performance and production. The state did not pay him a dime. The sports minister released a statement to clarify that no taxpayer’s money was given to Shatta Wale. The performance was free, and he said that was his way of honouring President Mahama,” Joy Sports report.

Shatta Wale was one of the artistes that were billed to perform alongside other artistes such as Camidoh and Kweku Smoke during the President’s Cup on July 6, 2025.

Asante Kotoko won their ninth President’s Cup title after beating rivals Hearts of Oak 2:1.
