The First Lady of Ghana, Lordina Dramani Mahama, is in Washington, D.C. to participate in the Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit.

According to a statement from the Presidency Communications Office, she is attending the event at the invitation of the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump.

The two-day summit brings together first spouses from around the world to discuss ways to create a safer and more inclusive digital environment for children.

Ahead of the summit, Mrs Mahama said Ghana is committed to ensuring that technology benefits children rather than putting them at risk.

“Ghana stands ready to ensure technology becomes a force for empowerment, not endangerment, for every child,” she said. “Our children’s future is our shared moral duty and generational responsibility.”

The summit is expected to focus on global cooperation, policy ideas and practical steps to protect children online while promoting equal access to digital opportunities.
