Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has revealed that his music catalogue contains more than 11,000 songs, although a significant portion of the works are not currently available on major streaming platforms.

The musician made the revelation during a podcast discussion with Ghanaian rapper YPee, where he spoke about the size of his musical catalogue and his years of independently releasing music.

According to Shatta Wale, some of his songs may not appear on platforms such as Apple Music, but can still be found through internet searches.

“Some of the songs, when you search on Apple Music, you won’t see them, but when you Google them, you will find them,” he said.

Shatta Wale explained that a recent calculation of his recorded works put the estimated size of his catalogue at more than 11,000 songs.

“Recently, when we did the calculation of the estimated number of songs I have, it’s like 11,000-plus songs. They’re not all on one platform,” he stated.

The dancehall musician attributed the size of his catalogue partly to the freedom he enjoyed to release music without being heavily restricted by others.

He recalled that during his early days in Nima, he operated his own website where he uploaded a large number of his songs for listeners to access.

“Those days when I was at Nima, I had a website where I packed a lot of songs there,” Shatta Wale added.

His comments highlight the evolution of his music distribution journey, from using a personal website to the modern era of digital streaming platforms.

Despite having thousands of songs in his catalogue, Shatta Wale noted that they are spread across different platforms and archives rather than being housed on a single streaming service.

The revelation has sparked interest among fans, particularly those who may be familiar with only the portion of his extensive catalogue available on mainstream music platforms.
