Lands and Natural Resources Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has declared Shatta Wale the “Youth President of the Western Region” after watching the dancehall star command the stage at this year’s Nkrumahfest.
The minister, visibly impressed by the artiste’s performance, said the experience had finally helped him understand why young people in the Western Region have repeatedly called for Shatta Wale to perform in the area.
Speaking to the crowd after the performance, Armah-Kofi Buah recalled how the youth had spent the past five years pressuring him to bring the musician to the region.

“For five years, the youth of the Western Region have been worrying me, ‘Bring Shatta, bring Shatta.’ But I swear to God, today, now I understand. Shatta forever,” he said to loud cheers from the audience.
The minister then went a step further by formally conferring the title of “Youth President of the Western Region” on Shatta Wale, while suggesting that the artiste’s influence could extend beyond Ghana.

“I declare Shatta the Youth President of the Western Region. I may be tempted to say, ‘Shatta, we want you to run for the President of the youth for the world.’ We are proud of you. Today, I understand why,” he stated.
Armah-Kofi Buah also used the occasion to openly express his admiration for the musician, promising to carry a visible symbol of his support.
“I am going to put your sticker on my car, and I am a Shatta forever fan. God bless you,” he concluded.
His comments came as Shatta Wale’s performance drew an enthusiastic response from the crowd at the festival, reinforcing the strong connection the artiste has built with a section of Ghana’s youth.
