Victoria Lebene is a Ghanaian actress and journalist

Ghanaian actress and journalist Victoria Lebene has emphasised that for a marriage to work, couples must set their own rules and principles.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, Lebene disclosed that setting rules involves understanding each other’s needs and establishing mutual respect.

“Holy Spirit revealed to me that it all about understanding. Because if I don’t like something and I let you know about it and you still do the same things, I don’t think it’s fair to your partner.

“If there’s understanding, everything will be perfect. When there’s an issue and it’s discussed among yourselves, it’s understanding that will make it beautiful. Love and life are all about understanding” she said.

When asked if there are guidelines for perfect relationship or marriage and if there are some guidelines in her own marriage, she replied saying that marriage is like an institution.

According to her, couples will be cautious on what to do if there are principles.

“There are no guidelines but you must have your own rules and principles. When you go to a company or a country, they have their own policies and principles so when you go into a marriage, it’s an institution on its own so you should be able to set rules. If there are guidelines in marriage, you will be cautious on the things to do and not to do” she stated.

When asked what could make her consider divorcing her husband, Victoria Lebene said she cherishes her marriage deeply and would only do so if God directs her to do so.

“Unless God reveal to me, because he gave me what I have and I cherish it a lot. God give us things in different ways for us to protect them. If you’re given something and you’re not able to protect it or keep it safe, you will lose it and you will regret it” she shared.

She added, “I meet a lot of beautiful grown women who tell me they actually regret leaving their marriage because they realised we are all not perfect.”
