Following a viral video in which an American tourist alleged she was kidnapped and robbed by individuals claiming to be police officers in Accra, Ghanaian skit-maker Sulley Sadik, popularly known as SDK Dele, has mounted a strong defence of Ghana, calling out what he described as disrespect to the country.
Reacting on X to an update issued by the Ghana Police Service, SDK argued that the refusal of the visitor’s friend to support the investigation undermines the seriousness of the allegations and warned that such claims could harm Ghana’s international image.
“Waaaa see some talk. Your friend doesn’t want to be involved in the investigations, so now you come and disgrace our country and run back to your country,” he posted.

The allegations, made by the American tourist identified as Arianna Naomi Mackey, triggered swift responses from both the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Ghana Police Service (GPS), which have confirmed ongoing investigations into the claims.
According to the Ghana Police Service, Ms. Mackey and her companions checked out of their hotel and departed Ghana on December 5, 2025.
She has since deleted the viral video and blocked investigators on social media. The authorities say she has also failed to provide names of the alleged officers or details of the supposed vehicle involved.
The GTA has urged the public and international visitors to remain calm and allow security agencies to complete their probe. They also reiterated that Ghana remains a safe and welcoming destination, especially during the peak “December in Ghana” festive season.
Social media reactions have been mixed, with many users, including SDK, suggesting that the viral video was an attempt to smear Ghana’s reputation.
