It is a prestigious German film festival that last year honoured Hollywood star Tilda Swinton with a lifetime achievement award.

And it appears the Scottish contribution to the Berlin International Film Festival will be stronger than ever this year.

Among the many film and TV shows having their world premieres in Berlin is new BBC crime drama Mint, which was filmed in Scotland last year.

Its cast includes Emma Laird, who starred in Oscar-winning film The Brutalist, as well as Bafta-winning actor Lewis Gribben and fellow Scot Laura Fraser, who had a major role in US smash hit Breaking Bad.

The eight-part series is described as ‘a darkly comic and unconventional drama about a crime family’s inner life’.

There will also be the international premiere of Glasgow-born director Aidan Zamiri’s film The Moment, starring pop singer Charli XCX and reality TV star Kylie Jenner.

They both play versions of themselves in the mockumentary, which is a commentary on the bizarre nature of fame.

The documentary Douglas Gordon by Douglas Gordon – about the Turner Prize-winning Scottish artist and which is shot inside his studio in Berlin – will also have a world premiere.

Similarly, The Education of Jane Cumming, which is about a romance between two Edinburgh teachers, will have its premiere at the Berlin event, which runs from February 12-22. The film stars Killing Eve actress Fiona Shaw.

And the score of The Testament of Ann Lee – starring Amanda Seyfried (of Mama Mia fame) – features music by Scottish free jazz singer Maggie Nicols.

Oscar-winner Swinton, who lives in Nairn, received the honorary Golden Bear at last year’s festival.
