An Indiana high school secretary has been accused of having sex with two students after her husband caught her with one of them and allegedly ‘battered’ her.
Alicia Hughes, 31, was arrested Saturday after an investigation unveiled an alleged sexual relationship with two teenagers.
Hughes was caught by her husband while she was with an 18-year-old Randolph Eastern School Corporation student on Friday night, Union City police said.
He confronted the pair and then he allegedly battered Hughes during the altercation. The alleged battery is under investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department.
As their investigation progressed, Union City police learned that Hughes had engaged in a separate relationship with a 17-year-old high school student.
She and the minor had sex at least five times, police said. The age of consent in Indiana is 16, but adults can be charged if they have a sexual relationship with someone aged 18 or under who they have a position of authority over.
Hughes was taken into custody and has been charged with five counts of child seduction in connection to the alleged sexual abuse of the minor student.
She was transported to Randolph County Jail and is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond.

Hughes has been removed from all duties with students pending the outcome of the legal process, Randolph Eastern School Corporation (RESC) Superintendent Neal Adams told the Daily Mail.
RESC, which is cooperating with the police investigation, is taking the allegations ‘extremely seriously,’ Adams said in a statement, noting that ‘student safety and well-being remain our highest priority’.
‘We recognize that situations of this nature are deeply concerning for our families, staff, and the broader community. Please know that we share those concerns and are taking this matter with the utmost seriousness, care and urgency,’ Adams said.
‘Our focus remains on supporting our students and maintaining a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment for all students.’
The superintendent added that the district appreciates the ‘professionalism and diligence of local authorities in handling this matter.’
Union City police said their investigation remains ongoing and is urging anyone with any additional information to come forward.
