A Saudi Arabian side are ready to sign Darwin Nunez as soon as the summer transfer window opens, according to a report.

The striker has made just eight starts in the Premier League in 2024-25 and just one in 2025, as it appears he is at the bottom of Arne Slot’s pecking order when it comes to Liverpool’s attacking weapons.

Nunez’s future on Merseyside has been the subject of heavy speculation, with the club previously rejecting an approach from Al-Nassr to sign him in January.

Now, Al-Hilal are plotting a move for the Urguayan on June 1 – the first day of the transfer window – in order to have him available for the Club World Cup, according to Liverpool Echo.

FIFA’s annual competition begins in mid-June, with clubs expected to field stronger sides for the tournament this year.

The number of teams competing has increased from seven to 32, and the prize money has rised concurrently – now at £30million for the winners.

When clubs came knocking for Nunez in January, Slot was hesitant to see his squad break apart in his bid to win silverware in his first season.

However, Liverpool are expected to be more willing to listen to offers for their No 9 this summer.

The report continued to state that Al-Hilal are also interested in Luis Diaz, whose future is unknown as he enters the last two years of his current deal.

Liverpool splashed out £85m on Nunez to snap him up from Benfica in 2022 but he has struggled since his arrival.

The frontman has scored 40 goals in 140 appearances since landing in England.

In his two full seasons at Liverpool, he has ranked in the top three for big chances missed in the Premier League, with 21 in 2022-23 and 27 the year after.

This season, he has netted just seven goals and registered four assists in his 42 appearances across all competitions.
