Ghana’s celebrated rapper, Sarkodie, has offered fans a rare glimpse into the humble beginnings of one of his most iconic songs, “Goodbye”, revealing that he wrote the lyrics in his mother’s kitchen in Tema.

The Rapperholic hitmaker made this heartfelt revelation on Monday, June 23, 2025, in response to a fan’s post on social media.

The post featured a video of a lady vibing to the track, prompting Sarkodie to quote it with a nostalgic message:

“Wrote this particular song in my mum’s kitchen (Tema),” he tweeted.

“Goodbye”, featuring Mugeez of R2Bees fame, is a standout single from Sarkodie’s acclaimed 2012 album, Rapperholic. Produced by Kill Beatz, the song blends Sarkodie’s emotionally charged rap with Mugeez’s soulful vocals to narrate a story of love, heartbreak, and painful farewells.

Over a decade since its release, the track remains a fan favorite, with many Ghanaians frequently expressing nostalgia and deep admiration for its lyrical honesty and timeless melody.
