Sarkodie has recalled a disturbing moment when a fan approached him for a selfie shortly after he survived a serious road accident involving highlife legend Amakye Dede.
The popular Ghanaian rapper shared the experience in a video posted on social media, describing how a seemingly ordinary journey from Kumasi to Amakye Dede’s residence in Agogo turned into a frightening ordeal.
According to Sarkodie, the two musicians were travelling in the same vehicle when it collided head-on with another car and veered off the road into a nearby bush.

Amakye Dede was sitting in the front passenger seat, while Sarkodie occupied the back seat alongside the driver and his cameraman.
Although they were travelling as part of a convoy, the other vehicles had fallen behind by the time the crash occurred, leaving the four occupants at the scene without the immediate presence of the rest of their travelling party.

As people stopped to assess the accident and gather around the wrecked vehicle, Sarkodie encountered a reaction he found difficult to understand.
Rather than checking whether he had sustained injuries, a woman who had stepped down from a bus saw an opportunity to take a photograph with the rapper.
“People saw the accident, but they didn’t know it was us. One girl came down from the bus and said to me, ‘Where else will I meet you again? Let me take a selfie with you.’ She didn’t ask how I was doing,” he disclosed.
The experience left Sarkodie reflecting on how fame can shape the way people relate to public figures, sometimes overshadowing their basic humanity.
“That’s why I am saying they don’t see a human; they see Sarkodie. She had not even realised that I was hurt; that is not what was important to her,” the SarkNation boss further stated.
