Kumar Asnani, Director of Centre Point Mall, has called on politicians, businesses, and supporters to rally behind young Ghanaian boxers, especially those who are set to compete in the upcoming “Street to Champions” boxing event.

Scheduled for November 16, 2024, at the Centre Point Mall in Atomic Junction, the event aims to create opportunities for underprivileged youth aspiring to pursue boxing as a career.

“Street to Champions is more than just a boxing event, it’s a movement to provide focus and purpose for our youth,” Asnani said during a press conference on November 5, 2024.

“Our youth need positive outlets, something to channel their energy into, to keep them off the streets and away from drugs and other social vices.”

He highlighted the urgent need for financial and social backing to help these aspiring athletes reach their full potential.

“Our government officials, our community leaders, our financiers—why not invest in the future of our youth? A small investment in these young boxers can go a long way. I have met a lot of the boxers and they don’t need much, they just want the chance to prove or showcase themselves,” he urged.

The upcoming event, a joint venture between Ace Power Promotions and Centre Point Mall, will feature top amateur and professional talent, including some of Ghana’s rising stars.

Among them is Samuel Takyi, who won one of Ghana’s seven boxing gold medals at the 2023 African Games and will face Emmanuel Quartey in an eight-round Lightweight Championship.

Fans can also anticipate thrilling bouts, including a fight for the National Super Lightweight Championship between Samuel Quaye and Michael “One Bullet” Ansah, as well as an intense matchup between Holy Dorgbetor and Benin’s WPBF champion, Clement Loko.
