Samuel Eto’o is the president of FECAFOOT

Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) president, Samuel Eto’o had to be restrained after a fiery confrontation with a supporter during the World Cup qualifier between Cameroon and Angola at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé on Monday, October 13, 2025.

The match ended goalless, a result that leaves Cameroon’s qualification hopes hanging by a thread, and tempers flared in the presidential tribune.

One angry fan shouted: “He has to get out of here! Idiot! It’s because of him that we didn’t qualify!”

Videos show Eto’o, visibly furious, attempting to confront the supporter before security personnel and nearby officials intervened to calm the situation.

The tense exchange capped off a frustrating evening for the Indomitable Lions.

Eto’o, the former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker, has come under heavy criticism for his leadership of the national team, amid ongoing disputes with coach Marc Brys.

This isn’t the first time Eto’o has lost his cool in public. During the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, he was filmed reacting angrily to a YouTuber outside a stadium, footage that quickly went viral worldwide.

The draw against Angola leaves Cameroon’s World Cup dream in jeopardy, with the team now depending on results elsewhere to stay in contention for a playoff spot.
