President of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC), Samson Deen, has been nominated for the Sports Personality of the Year Award at the upcoming Metro Sports Awards.

Samson Deen received the nomination for his massive contribution to sports development in Ghana and Africa.

The highly anticipated awards ceremony is scheduled for January next year. It is expected to draw a large number of Ghanaian ace sports personalities, adding to the excitement of the event.

As the president of the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana, Mr. Deen has played an integral part in developing para-sports in the country.

His recent contribution to para-sports on the African continent has made him one of the continent’s most revered sports personalities.

The NPC-Ghana president faces fierce competition for the top prize. Other influential sports figures nominated for the award include Nations FC owner Dr. Kwame Kyei, the president of the Ghana Rugby Association, Herbert Mensah, and Dreams FC coach Karim Zito, setting the stage for an intense battle.

With his recent achievements so glaring and undeniable, several Ghanaian journalists have voiced their strong support for Samson Deen’s assumption of the role of sports minister under the NDC government, creating strong momentum in his favor.

Under his stewardship, Ghana para-sports have significantly improved due to his astute, selfless, and competent leadership.

One of Samson Deen’s legacies as president of the African Paralympic Committee was ensuring the organization of the first-ever African Para Games. The 2023 African Para Games were held between September 3 and 12, 2023, in Accra, Ghana.
