Ghana legend Samuel Osei Kuffour has urged fans to rally behind new Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz, stressing that unity will be crucial as the team prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Kuffour’s comments come amid mounting scrutiny over Queiroz’s appointment by the Ghana Football Association, with sections of the public questioning the decision. However, the former Bayern Munich defender believes continued criticism at this stage could destabilize the team.
He argued that the focus should now shift to supporting the coach, noting that the decision has already been made and cannot be reversed. According to Kuffour, unity offers Ghana its best chance of achieving stability and success on the global stage.
The ex-defender also raised concerns about the squad, highlighting injuries to key players as a major challenge ahead of the tournament. He pointed to the potential absence of Mohammed Kudus, alongside fitness issues affecting other important figures, as setbacks the team must overcome.
Kuffour believes Queiroz’s vast experience will be vital in managing the situation and extracting strong performances, even with a weakened squad.
