Hearts of Oak midfielder, Salim Adams has opened up on the team’s strategy that resulted in the 2-0 win against Medeama Sporting Club in the Ghana Premier League on Friday, November 1, 2024.

The youngster featured for the Phobians in the Week 9 meeting in the 2024/25 Ghanaian top-flight league campaign and impressed to earn the Man of the Match award.

Speaking in his post-match interview, Salim Adams revealed that the team bagged the three points because the strategy to defend in the first half and attack in the second half worked.

“We are all feeling great. We didn’t start the season well so we are pushing to the top. This is the strategy we came up with. We decided to defend in the first half and attack them in the second half and we got the results,” Salim Adams said.

Despite intense exchanges in the first half, neither side managed to break through, with each team’s defence standing firm to maintain a goalless draw at halftime. The tension on the pitch was palpable as both teams returned for the second half with renewed energy and determination to find a breakthrough.

The Phobians finally seized their chance in the 63rd minute when forward Kwabena Boateng capitalized on a well-crafted play to net the first goal of the match. This strike shifted momentum toward Hearts, and Medeama found themselves struggling to respond.

Mawuli Wayo doubled Hearts’ lead in the 87th minute, delivering the final blow that sealed Medeama’s fate and secured all three points for the visiting side.

This win boosts Hearts of Oak’s league position and fuels their confidence as they continue to climb the ranks.
