Mr. Salifu Ibrahim, popularly known as Mba Baba Fiter, has proven that integrity still holds great value in today’s society. A cleaner with Zoomlion Ghana Limited and the Youth Employment Agency in Tamale, Mr. Ibrahim returned a sum of GHC20,000 he found while working on the streets. His selfless act has not only earned him admiration but also remarkable rewards.

In an interview with Naa Damba of DMTV, Mr. Ibrahim revealed the overwhelming support and recognition he received after returning the money to its rightful owner. During his trip to Accra to meet top officials of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, he was gifted over GHC27,600 in cash, a motorbike, and other tokens of appreciation.

According to Mr. Ibrahim, the Zoomlion officials contributed GHC7,000, while the company itself presented him with GHC10,000 and a motorbike. Additionally, three of the officials individually gifted him a total of $40 and GHC10,000.

Even before his trip to Accra, kind-hearted individuals had shown their support for Mr. Ibrahim’s honesty. Hajia Titi, a philanthropist based in Kumasi, contributed GHC5,000 through Naa Damba, while another anonymous donor gifted him GHC300. The officials also provided him with GHC20 upon his arrival in Accra to buy water.

In total, Mr. Ibrahim received GHC28,400 in cash and a motorbike, with more promises of support on the horizon. The Zoomlion boss, who was unavailable at the time of his visit, has pledged to meet with Mr. Ibrahim for a special discussion.

Mr. Ibrahim found the money in a polythene bag while cleaning the streets of Tamale. Initially unaware of its contents, he kept it safe until the rightful owner came forward two weeks later. Despite facing financial struggles, including not being paid for over a year and six months and having only GHC5 on him at the time, Mr. Ibrahim chose not to touch the money. He attributed his decision to his values, stating, “I don’t want to spend what does not belong to me; it has longstanding repercussions that could affect me or my generation.”

He advised young people to embrace honesty in their lives, emphasizing that integrity always brings blessings in unexpected ways.

This heartwarming story has captivated many and serves as a reminder that integrity is a virtue worth upholding. Mr. Ibrahim’s actions not only reflect his strong moral principles but also highlight the power of honesty to bring about positive change and inspire others.
