As reported yesterday, Badou Jack’s first defense of his WBC cruiserweight belt against mandatory contender Ryan Rozicki of Canada is now off for May 3rd Saudi Arabia. The news was confirmed by Rozicki’s promoter Dan Otter (Three Lions Promotions). The card is headlined by Canelo Alvarez versus William Scull.
Ryan Rozicki: “It is what it is at this point. It was a freak accident. The doctors said my bicep tore and I’m out for a few months. I will be back and I want that belt!”
Dan Otter: “We are absolutely gutted. Rozicki has never looked better and that title was leaving with him and coming back to Canada. He is in good spirits and the comeback is always better. He will be the WBC world champion. We did win the rights to the fight at purse bid so we are trying to facilitate another option.”
