Ghana Civil Aviation Authority have qualified for the 2025 UG Corporate Football League final Ghana Civil Aviation Authority have qualified for the 2025 UG Corporate Football League final

In a stunning turn of events at the University of Ghana Corporate Football League semi-finals, both group winners suffered shocking defeats on Friday July 4, 2025, as second-placed finishers Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and Union Ghana delivered the performances of the season to book their spots in the finals.

The semi-finals produced the kind of drama that makes football beautiful, where form guides mean nothing and underdogs can rewrite their story in sixty (60) minutes.

The opening game delivered a surprise as GCAA, who finished second in Group A, defeated group winners Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club 1–0 in a masterclass of tactical execution.

GCAA entered the match as underdogs, but their game plan was flawless. They pressed high, closed spaces quickly, and refused to let the Armed Forces settle into their usual rhythm.

The military side, who had dominated Group A with their trademark strength and structure, found themselves outmaneuvered by opponents who had clearly done their homework.

GCAA’s relentless pressing forced crucial turnovers and prevented the Armed Forces from building their typical methodical attacks.

When Prince Kofi Ameyaw scored a goal for GCAA, it felt like justice for a team that had been written off by many.

For GCAA, reaching the final represents the pinnacle of their corporate football journey.

The second and last game of the night saw Union Ghana, Group A runner-up, deliver an equally impressive performance to overcome Group B leader National Petroleum Authority (NPA) 1 – 0, completing a remarkable day of upsets.

Union entered the match carrying the weight of their disappointing final group game defeat to the Ghana Armed Forces, a result that cost them top spot in Group A.

But adversity breeds character, and Union’s response was emphatic. Emmanuel Arthur, Union’s prolific striker, struck the decisive blow in the second half, capitalising on the creative play that has been their hallmark throughout the league.

Newton Tackie’s pace and delivery from the wing proved too much for NPA’s defense, while Union’s backline stood firm against the group winner’s attacking threats.

The victory represented more than just a place in the final, it was redemption for a team that had questioned themselves after their group stage stumble.

Championship Final: Union Ghana vs Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, a clash between two teams who proved that belief could overcome reputation.

Third Place Play-off: Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club vs National Petroleum Authority, both former group winners seeking to salvage pride.

Both matches are scheduled for July 25, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium.

The UG Corporate Football League is proudly brought to you by the University of Ghana Sports and Wellness Directorate and RITE Sports Services, with support from the Ghana Football Association.
