Nigerian fashion designer and gospel singer, Veekee James, has recounted how she battled with trauma after her marriage became the centre of discussions.

In an interview with actress Nancy Isime, shared on X on August 23, 2025, Veekee James noted that she became depressed after being accused of stealing her husband from a friend.

The gospel musician emphasised that the rumour about snatching her husband from a friend was not the only thing that got her depressed, but claims of sleeping with all of them also contributed to her depression.

“It was a story about how I stole him from a friend, and we were sleeping with each other, but so many of them were all lies. It almost put me into depression,” she said.

The musician further noted that it was her first time experiencing how

    depression felt like.

“That was the first time in my life I got to understand what people who say they are depressed feel. I remember entering my room, and I didn’t come out for two days.

“I was there crying and praying, and I told God that he knows the story. And if he knows what they are all saying is lies, he should help us get out of it without ruining my brand,” she added.
