President John Dramani Mahama

Vincent Ekow Assafuah, the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, has made a solemn call on President John Dramani Mahama to reconsider his directive that appointments and recruitments made post-election last year should be revoked.

The government has cancelled appointments and recruitments following the president’s directive issued through his Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah.

This has affected many nurses and other public sector workers, including recruits made under the Akufo-Addo regime.

Tackling the issue during Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Vincent Ekow Assafuah noted many young Ghanaians are wailing under this new administration.

According to him, this decision is compounding the plight of the youth; hence, he pleaded with President John Mahama to rescind his decision for the sake of the masses.

“His Excellency the President, respectfully, on behalf young men and young women in this country, we are appealing to you that please put your empathy cap on… The toils of these young men and young women cannot be sacrificed on the altar of partisanship,” he exclaimed.

He further intimated that the National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, and himself have petitioned the Supreme Court on grounds that the revocation of the appointments and recruitments is “unconstitutional.”
