Rapper Medikal turned the city of Accra upside down on December 13, 2025, with his much-anticipated Beyond Kontrol Concert.

The highly talked-about musical spectacle, held at the Accra Sports Stadium, featured a star-studded lineup of A-list artistes and delivered an unforgettable Detty December experience for thousands of music lovers.

    Time the event started

The event began on a rather slow note, which was unusual for a December concert.

By 12:00 a.m., patrons were gradually entering the stadium, while the MCs allowed upcoming artistes to showcase their talents on the big stage.

Due to the low turnout at the early stages of the concert, many netizens predicted that Medikal’s Beyond Kontrol Concert was going to be a “flop.”

Music played by DJ / MC

The DJs and MCs on the night did an excellent job of keeping the energy alive.

Despite the low turnout at the early stage, the MCs kept the audience engaged with hype moments, crowd interaction, and smooth transitions between performances.

One notable highlight was the DJs’ decision to play strictly Ghanaian music, including contemporary Afrobeats, hiplife, and Asakaa drill tunes, among others.

    Artistes’ performances

Medikal was the first major performer of the night, mounting the stage around 1:00 a.m. with a grand entrance that set the tone for the rest of the show.

The rapper proved why he remains one of Ghana’s most dominant artistes, delivering back-to-back hit songs with confidence and strong stage command. Fans sang along passionately to their favorite records, creating electrifying moments throughout his performance.

Following Medikal’s set, Wendy Shay thrilled the audience with a mouth-watering performance that drew loud cheers from the crowd.

Rapper Sarkodie also mounted the stage and once again showcased why he rightfully deserves the title “Landlord,” delivering a powerful and well-received performance.

Other supporting artistes on the night included Kofi Kinaata, Bisa Kdei, Obrafour, Mr Drew, OliveTheBoy, O’Kenneth, and several others who each brought their unique flair to the stage.

    Security

Security at the Accra Sports Stadium was visibly tight and well organised.

Security personnel were stationed at strategic points, including entry gates, the pitch, and VIP sections. Despite the massive turnout later in the night, crowd control was largely effective, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for patrons.

Notably, backstage security was top-notch, with about three checkpoints leading to the main backstage area.

    Time the event closed

The concert officially came to a close after the man of the moment and “Street King,” Shatta Wale, treated fans to nonstop back-to-back hit songs.

Shatta Wale mounted the stage around 5:50 a.m. the next morning with an energetic entrance that instantly reignited the crowd.

Throughout his performance, the atmosphere remained lively, with patrons singing along and celebrating his legendary songs.

The dancehall musician wrapped up his performance around 6:45 a.m. As he exited the stadium, the crowd followed closely behind, officially bringing the event to an end.

    Covers on the pitch

After years of complaints from music lovers and industry players about how concerts held at stadiums end up damaging pitches, the National Sports Authority finally listened to the concerns of Ghanaians by providing pitch covers.

During the event, protective covers were laid on the pitch to preserve the stadium turf—a thoughtful and professional touch by the organizers.

Although the covers slightly restricted movement in some areas, they helped maintain order on the field and prevented damage to the playing surface.

    Verdict

Despite early criticism on social media suggesting that Medikal’s 2025 Beyond Kontrol Concert was a flop, those claims were eventually proven false.

Medikal lived up to the name of the concert, delivering a high-energy and largely well-organized show that stood out during Detty December.

Although there were issues with late performances, security and crowd management were top-notch.

The concert reinforced Medikal’s status as a powerhouse performer and secured its place as one of the biggest highlights of the season.
