Team Abdul Aziz Quartey has extended congratulations to Jonathan Tetteh, popularly known as “Worldwide,” following his victory in the national Light Heavyweight title bout at Laboma Beach Resort.
Speaking after the fight, Quartey’s manager, Godfred Allotey, expressed gratitude to fans and stakeholders who supported their camp. He praised Quartey’s performance, highlighting the boxer’s courage and determination in what he described as a spirited contest that injected renewed excitement into Ghana boxing.
Allotey also commended promoters Box Office Promotions and RBS Promotions for successfully organizing the “Resurrection Fight Night,” which he labelled as both thrilling and professionally executed.
Quartey was defeated after the referee stopped the bout to protect him from further punishment, handing Jonathan Tetteh the win. Despite the loss, Quartey showed sportsmanship, congratulating his opponent and acknowledging the opportunity to compete on a major stage.
He also apologised to fans for the defeat and expressed optimism about a stronger comeback after further preparation.
Organisers have announced that their next championship event will take place in Kumasi in August, as efforts continue to elevate the profile of boxing in Ghana.
