Ghanaian footballer Andre Dede Ayew has shared an emotional message to mark his father, Abedi Ayew Pele’s 60th birthday on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

Dede Ayew expressed his utmost gratitude to his father for the care and guidance he has given him since childhood to aid his progress in life.

The Le Havre forward also commended his father’s legendary status in football, which has made him a role model to many young footballers across the African continent and on the global stage.

“Happy 60th Birthday to the World’s Best Dad! My siblings and I are honoured to call you our father. Your remarkable journey from Dome to becoming an iconic footballer and exceptional parent is a testament to your perseverance and dedication. You’re our role model, inspiring us to emulate your values: self-belief, respect, resilience, and unwavering loyalty.

“We’re grateful for the life you and Mum have given us, filled with love, lessons, and guidance. Your legacy will continue to shape our lives. We promise to make you proud, living up to your expectations. May Allah bless you with many blessed years. Long live the king of kings, maestro,” Dede Ayew wrote on his Instagram page.

With three African Player of the Year awards, Abedi’s status in Ghanaian and African football is unquestionable.

At the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations, he distinguished himself and perhaps produced his best performance for the Black Stars.

Abedi Pele scored three goals as he powered Ghana to the final of the tournament, which was held in Senegal.

As widely known, Abedi Pele was unable to play in the final of the tournament against Ivory Coast, and many people, including Nii Odartey Lamptey, believe his absence cost Ghana the ultimate prize.
