Nollywood actor Ray Emodi has announced that he has stepped away from acting, saying the decision was not easy but necessary.
“I have stopped acting in films. I quit. There was a time I never thought I would say that sentence for a short period of time, but I won’t lie,” he said.
Emodi revealed that safety concerns played a role in his decision. He recalled filming in a town where gunshots could be heard nearby.
“I shot a film in a town that I won’t mention, but we were literally hearing gunshots. There was like a craziness going on in the town next to our town, and we were still shooting,” he explained.
Beyond safety issues, he said the choice has also created tension at home.
“This is a decision that has come with a lot of consequences. My family does not support this. It is a family with strict rules and a reputation to protect, which is understandable, and I respect them,” he stated.
Emodi added that he understands his family’s concerns and does not intend to go against them.
“I respect their decision, and I won’t do anything that would bring any stain to the name,” he said.
The actor’s announcement marks a significant shift in his career, as he steps away from the film industry for now.
