Former Ghana international Quincy Owusu-Abeyie has expressed confidence in the chances of Ghana ahead of the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup which will staged in North America

Speaking in a brief interview with Adom FM journalist Nana Osei Ampofo Adjei in his base Netherlands, the ex- Arsenal and Celta Vigo wideman said; “Don’t worry, the Black Stars will perform at the 2026 World Cup.”

The upcoming tournament will mark Ghana’s fifth appearance at the global showpiece, having previously competed in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2022, with 2010 being their best ever campaign when the West African side reached the quarter-final.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside 1966 champions England, 2018 finalists Croatia and Panama.

The four-time African champions will open their campaign against Panama, before they take on European giants England in their second group fixture. Ghana will then wrap up their group-stage matches with a high-stakes clash against Croatia.

As part of preparations for the tournament, the Ghana FA has lined up four high-profile international friendlies. Ghana will face Austria and Germany during the March international window, before taking on Mexico in April and Wales in June.

Owusu-Abeyie, now 39, represented Ghana between 2008 and 2011, making 18 appearances and scoring two goals during his time with the senior national side.
