• Woman and her child treated for injuries
  •  Another passenger was also injured

A woman and child have been rushed to hospital after being injured during turbulence on a flight from Sydney to Brisbane .

The woman, in her 40s, and the child, who is younger than 10, were taken to The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane for treatment of bruising and lacerations suffered on flight QF528 on Wednesday, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.

Another person injured in the flight declined treatment from paramedis.

The injured trio were reportedly not wearing seatbelts at the time, even though the seatbelt sign was on.

The plane landed safely.

‘Our pilots and cabin crew are highly trained to manage a range of onboard events, including turbulence events, but we know this would have been very unsettling, and we thank customers for their co-operation,’ a Qantas spokeswoman said in a statement.
