The Ghana Football Association (GFA) have appointed esteemed individuals to form the Black Stars management committee in 2025.

The appointees include Dr. Randy Abbey as the committee chairman, Stephen Appiah as the vice chairman, and members Samuel Aboabire, Richard Nsenkyire, and Moses Armah.

This piece provides an in-depth look into the profiles of these personalities, highlighting their careers and relationships with sports.

    Dr. Randy Abbey

Dr. Ransford Annetey Abbey, also known as Randy Abbey, is a Ghanaian media personality and sports administrator.

He attended Accra Academy for his secondary education. Dr Abbey studied for a certificate in Human Resource Management and Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and an advanced certificate in Public Relations, Advertising, and Marketing from the Ghana Institute of Journalism.

Dr Abbey received his MBA in General Management from the Australian Institute of Business in Australia and was awarded his doctorate degree by the SBS Swiss Business School in Zürich, Switzerland.

He hosted Metro TV’s morning show, Good Morning Ghana.

Dr Abbey served as the spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association for eight years. In 2014, he became the majority shareholder of Kpando Hearts of Lions Football Club, owning over 70% of the shares.

In 2019, Dr Abbey was voted a member of the Ghana Football Association Executive Council. He has also chaired the Referees Appointment Committee and the Black Meteors Management Committee.

    Stephen Appiah

Stephen Leroy Appiah was born on December 24, 1980, and is a Ghanaian retired footballer who played as a midfielder. He was a member of the Ghana national team, representing the country at the youth, Olympic, and senior levels.

He captained Ghana at their World Cup debut in 2006 and was a member of their squad for the 2010 World Cup. Appiah began his career at local club Hearts of Oak in 1995.

He was later transferred to Parma, where he spent two seasons. Appiah went on loan to Brescia for the 2002–03 season. His success at Parma alerted Juventus, who signed him in 2003. He finished eighth for African Footballer of the Year.

On August 7, 2010, Appiah signed with newly promoted Italian Serie A side Cesena on a one-year deal with the option to sign on for another year. However, at the end of the 2010–11 season, his contract with Cesena expired, and he became a free agent.

Appiah announced his retirement from football on January 14, 2015.

    Moses Armah

Moses Armah, also known as “Parker,” is a Ghanaian businessman, football administrator, and currently the owner and president of Medeama SC, as well as the chairman of Mospacka Group of companies, which includes Medeama FM.

In July 2010, the businessman completed the takeover of Kessben FC for a reported fee of US$600,000 and renamed it Medeama SC.

After acquiring Medeama in 2010, Moses Armah’s team represented Ghana twice in Confederation of African Football inter-club competitions, playing in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2014 and 2016.

    Richard Nsenkyire

Richard Duah Nsenkyire is the owner and bankroller of Samartex FC, as well as the general manager at Samartex Timber and Plywood Co. Ltd.

His strategic planning helped FC Samartex win their debut league title in the 2023/2024 season.

Nsenkyire has been critical of Ghana football issues, including the league and the Black Stars.

    Samuel Aboabire

Samuel Aboabire is the Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association.

He is also an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Aboabire was appointed to head the African Schools Football Championship Committee.

He successfully led Ghana’s organization, planning, and participation in the continental schools championship.
