Ghana’s Black Starlets have been handed a difficult Group D draw for the 21st edition of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations following Wednesday’s ceremony at the Confederation of African Football headquarters in Cairo.

The four-time world champions will face defending champions Senegal U17, alongside Algeria U17 and South Africa U17 in what is widely regarded as one of the tournament’s toughest groups.

Ghana enter the competition with a strong pedigree, having won the continental title twice in 1995 and 1999, while finishing as runners-up in 2005 and 2017. The team will be aiming to build on that history as they prepare for a stern test against quality opposition.

Senegal arrive as reigning champions, while South Africa boast a runners-up finish in 2015. Algeria also carry experience, having reached the final in 2009.

The tournament will be hosted by Morocco from May 13 to June 2, 2026, featuring the continent’s top youth teams.

The Black Starlets will be eager to progress from the group and secure qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar later this year.
