Professor Dodoo, the former President of the Ghana Athletics Association

Professor Francis Dodoo, the former President of the Ghana Athletics Association, has become the first known sports personality to be appointed to the government of President John Dramani Mahama.

In the latest list of executive appointees published by the Acting Spokesperson for the Office of the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the former Ghanaian athlete was announced as the head of the National Anti-Corruption Programme.

The new role mandates Professor Dodoo, who is the Head of Governance at World Athletics, to oversee the anti-corruption drive of the Mahama-led government, including the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) policy.

Even before the establishment of the Mahama government, the preparatory committee for ORAL was set up to do the groundwork, and Professor Dodoo is expected to work with them to achieve President Mahama’s anti-corruption goals.

A former athlete, Professor Dodoo competed for Ghana as a long jumper and high jumper, winning gold at the 1987 African Games.
