Popular Kumawood comic actor and musician, Joseph Nana Osei Kofi, popularly known as Wayoosi has bemoaned the culture of movie producers relying on insults and verbal abuse as comic relif in their movies.

In a post made in his X account on September 24, 2025, Wayoosi expressed his disappointment in the growing trend.

“Comedy has changed. We used to make people laugh without insults. Now, it feels like that’s all some producers rely on. And you know what?” he said.

He recalled how earlier comedy movies relied on creativity and talent. He added that despite the limited distribution channels, older comedy movies were still popular and pulled in viewers without relying on insults.

“Our movies were still incredibly popular, even without the internet and with limited TV access. People would go out of their way to watch,” he added.

Wayoosi is famous for his sharp wit and comedic roles often as a sidekick or street-smart character. He rose to fame after his breakout role in the early 2000s movie “Ma Tricki” and is frequently featured alongside other stars like Agya Koo in classic films such as “Agya Koo Professor,” “Anadwo Mogya,” and “Wee Dooge.” Beyond acting, he is also a musician and TV personality.
