Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has shared a cryptic post on social media just days after facing backlash for some ‘derogatory’ comments he made about president-elect John Dramani Mahama.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, the actor has shared a message that read: “The ant, because of hatred for the cockroach, voted for the insecticide. They all died, including the cricket who was not involved.”

While he did not provide any context for the post, netizens have interpreted it as a reference to the NDC’s victory in the 2024 elections, as well as his disappointment as a member of the opposition NPP.

It is worth noting that Prince David Osei, prior to this development, denied insulting John Mahama, explaining that his cousins had responded to negative comments on his behalf.

This controversy began after he shared a congratulatory message to Mahama, a post that was quickly marred by insults and attacks from social media users.

Since the NPP’s defeat, Prince David Osei, a staunch NPP member, has been engaged in online battles with NDC supporters who have asked him to stay in his lane.

    Background

President-elect John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won the presidency with 56.55% of the vote, defeating the New Patriotic Party’s Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The election also marked a historic moment as Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang will become Ghana’s first female Vice-President.
