The KGL Foundation teamed up with the Premier Tennis Club in Tema to host the 2025 Farmers’ Day Tennis Tournament.

The event, which has been in existence for over five years, was organised to celebrate the 41st National Farmers Day, a day put aside to honor farmers in the country.

The event saw four clubs participating in the competition namely: Tema Premier Tennis Club, Koforidua Sports Club, the Burma Camp tennis club and Sakumono Tennis club.

Public Relations Officer of the KGL Foundation, Edwin Osmond-Lamptey says his outfit partnered the Premier Tennis Club to make their impact felt and support the development of the sport in the country.

“As a Foundation, we’re very interested in the upliftment of underserved Ghanaians in their communities, ensuring they have the capacity to exercise their full potentials. “

“We have partnered with a lot of private and government organisations in the bid to impact the lives of Ghanaians and one of the ways is in supporting initiatives like the Tema Farmers Day Tennis tournament. We have been with them for the past four years and we’ve seen how they for infuse sports with community development. In the same vein, we also in our own small way, celebrate our farmers who nourish us by supporting such worthy events”.

Osmond-Lamptey is already envisioning the tennis competition evolve into a bigger tournament like the Wimbledon.

“We hope to see that this will grow into a tournament like the Wimbledon. We hope to see that people will use this tournament as a stepping stone towards achieving greater things.”
