Australia-based coffeehouse Proud Mary Coffee Roasters will be offering one of the most expensive cups of coffee to 22 people across their stores in Portland, Austin, and Australia.

The company, which was founded in Melbourne by a husband and wife, purchased a $2,000 bag of Black Jaguar Geisha coffee from Finca Hartmann, which just won the Best of Panama 2022 competition with the blend.

The coffee has notes of jasmine, strawberry, passionfruit and blackberry, according to Proud Mary.

So just how much will an eight-ounce cup cost? $150 USD or $200 AUD, with only ‘one lucky m***’ getting a cup for a discounted price.

Australia-based coffeehouse Proud Mary Coffee Roasters will be offering one of the most expensive cups of coffee to 22 people across their US stores. The company purchased a $2,000 bag of Black Jaguar Geisha coffee from Finca Hartmann, which just won the Best of Panama 2022 competition

To hype up the event, the company is selling two chances at winning Golden Tickets – one in the US and one in Australia – for $48 USD, which comes with 100 grams, or 3.5 ounces, of the coffee blend. Ticket presale ends January 26. One lucky winner will get to try the pricey cup for free.

‘Do you want a chance to taste it? So do we, but there’s only 22 serves… so we set one aside, in-store for one lucky m*** to enjoy, on us,’ it wrote on Instagram.

‘This Golden Ticket will give you the opportunity to taste the most expensive coffee we’ve ever purchased in-store, on us! Valued at $200 [AUD],’ it wrote on its website.

The company called the brew the ‘most life-changing coffee ever released in our cafes’ and ‘challenged’ others to find a more ‘delicious coffee out there.’

‘With just a few serves in existence, this coffee promises full “out-of-body [experience]…”‘ it wrote on Instagram.

Geisha coffee comes from South America and is a medium blend. It was originally collected from Ethiopian forests near Gesha mountain in the 1930s, according to Proud Mary. It was then distributed to Panama in the 1960s.

It didn’t become popular until 2005 when the Peterson Family submitted it for the Best of Panama competition. It broke the then-record of $20 USD per pound.

The Hartmann family, who created the blend this year, has been considered ‘one of the pioneering families of specialty coffee production in Panama,’ Proud Mary said on its website.

The family settled in Panama in 1912 from Moravia – modern-day Czech Republic – and purchased 100 hectares in the virgin rainforest, where they continue to grow coffee beans under the shade of the canopy.

Proud Mary has been working with the Hartmann Family since 2011 to bring many blends to the US and Australia. They will also be offering five other blends from the Hartmann Family during the month of February, including three espressos and two Geisha coffees.

Proud Mary opened its first US story in Portland in 2017.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Proud Mary for comment.
