Ghanaian actress Portia Asare Boateng has opened up about the domestic abuse she suffered in the hands of her ex-husband during their marriage.

In a video shared on Instagram on December 12, 2025, Portia revealed that she once endured severe beating from her former spouse.

She added that the abuse did not end with her, as her ex-husband also directed his anger toward their children by physically assaulting them as well.

Portia noted that this was the first time she had ever experienced such violence in her marriage.

“I suffered marital abuse. God is my witness, that was the first time he beat me. He even turned the anger on our children and beat them as well. The case even went to the Odorkor Police Station,” she said.

The actress further disclosed that although that incident was the first time her ex-husband physically assaulted her, he had consistently subjected her to emotional abuse.

“He wasn’t someone who used to beat me, but when it came to emotional abuse, he was fond of it. He could verbally abuse me, and it was painful. That was the reason why I set up my foundation for women going through similar issues,” she added.
