Actress Portia Asare has publicly clarified that she has not endorsed Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia or any political party, emphasizing her stance on promoting peace and unity in the country.

The actress’ statement comes after her appearance at an event where Dr. Bawumia inspected the ongoing construction of the Ghana Trade Fair Centre.

Portia Asare was seen alongside other celebrities, including gospel musician Diana Asamoah and actor Kalybos, both of whom have openly endorsed Dr. Bawumia. This association led to speculation that she, too, had joined the Vice President’s political camp.

In an interview with Blogger and Journalist Attractive Mustapha (Andre Mustapha), Portia Asare set the record straight, explaining that her presence at the event was purely professional.

“I am a Ghanaian and an artiste in the creative industry. I was invited to attend a national event, and I see nothing wrong with honoring such an invitation,” she said.

She firmly stated that her involvement was non-partisan.

“I have not endorsed any political party or any presidential candidate. It’s not about party politics; it’s about us uniting to see the country progress,” she explained.

The actress further urged Ghanaians to prioritize peace, especially as the country prepares for its next general election. “Let’s live in peace, protect our motherland, and be happy that people visit Ghana because they see it as a peaceful nation,” she added.

Acknowledging the importance of leadership in nation-building, Portia highlighted Ghana’s history of conducting democratic elections and urged citizens to maintain this legacy.

“It’s good for us to elect a leader for the country. Ghana has done it before, and this is not the first time we’re going into elections. All we are asking for is peaceful elections, unity, and love. May God guide us in voting for who He has appointed to come and lead us.”

When asked about her personal political preferences, Portia Asare disclosed that she has decided who she will vote for but prefers to keep it private.

“It’s a private thing for me, and I want to keep it that way,” she concluded.
