Voting has officially wrapped up in the high-stakes New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries, with polls closing across Ghana at 2pm on Saturday, January 31, 2026, after a morning of orderly balloting.

An estimated 211,000 delegates from the party’s constituencies were expected to cast their votes at over 300 polling centres nationwide.

The primaries were mostly peaceful across all voting centers observed, with tight security recorded throughout.

In the lead up to the primaries, the five heavyweight contenders, including former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, engaged in extensive campaigning and saw strong turnout from party delegates eager to choose their flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

Counting is now underway at the various centres which will climax in the national collation centre and then the winner of the primaries will be declared.
