Emergency services swarmed a local secondary school today after a massive brawl broke out between students, leaving two teachers hospitalised with injuries.

South Yorkshire Police have been seen at Fir Vale Academy, on Owen Lane, since before 1.20 pm today, as a fight reportedly broke out between a number of students

Local Facebook page Sheffield Online reported the incident and shared an image of a South Yorkshire Police officer in the street. The page said the ‘situation appears to be contained’. It warned of temporary traffic disruption in the surrounding roads.

One Facebook commenter said: ‘Just picked my son up from this school and it was chaos.’

Parents said the incident is in relation to a ‘school fight’. They said ‘two teachers were taken to hospital’ and one teacher fainted during the incident.

There were seven police cars parked outside the school.

However, a Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokesman said they were ‘not aware’ of any incidents.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: ‘Shortly after midday today (Thursday 26 February) we were called to reports of a disturbance at Fir Vale Secondary School in Owler Lane, Sheffield.
