Chelsea and West Ham United have been fined £325,000 ($439,140) and £300,000 respectively following a mass brawl at the end of their Premier League clash on 31 January.

The London derby saw Chelsea come from two goals down to secure a 3-2 victory, but the match ended in chaos as nearly 20 players became involved in a melee. West Ham winger Adama Traore threw Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella to the ground before clashing with Joao Pedro, prompting other players to intervene. West Ham’s Jean-Clair Todibo received a straight red card after a VAR review for grabbing Pedro by the throat.

The Football Association (FA) stated that Chelsea “failed to ensure its players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way” around the 95th minute, while West Ham “failed to ensure its players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative and/or violent way” during the same period. Both clubs admitted the charges. Reuters
