The Kumasi High Court has sentenced Police Inspector, Ahmed Twumasi to life imprisonment for the murder of his 26-year-old girlfriend, Victoria Dapaah in April 2023.

The ruling, delivered on Friday, October 24, 2025, brings an emotional close to a case that shocked the nation, a tragic tale of a law enforcer who used his service rifle to end the life of the woman he professed to love.

According to the court’s findings, Inspector Twumasi shot Victoria Dapaah, popularly known as Maadwoa, multiple times in the abdomen and chest at close range on April 20, 2023, at Adum in Kumasi.

The act, described by prosecutors as cold-blooded and premeditated, was carried out with a state-issued firearm.

The jury returned a 5-2 guilty verdict, a decision that was met with visible relief from the victim’s family members who had gathered in court.

Twumasi, who appeared emotionless as the sentence was handed down, was arrested three days after the incident on April 23, 2023 at Sekyere near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region, following a targeted police operation.

Friends of the late Victoria described her as vibrant, ambitious, and full of life. Her death, they said, has left an irreplaceable void in their lives.

Meanwhile, the defense team of Inspector Ahmed Twumasi has been given one month to file an appeal.
